The Desmos Graphing Calculator is the calculator of choice for state tests in 40 states including Indiana. Students should be comfortable using it. But students can also use this amazing graphing calculator to explore mathematical ideas and concepts. In this session, teachers will develop ideas about how they can use just the Desmos calculator to explore secondary math content beyond just graphing equations. We’ll look at how the calculator itself can help explore equations for volume and surface area as well as a basic introduction to linear relationships. I’ll then share ideas for more advanced secondary math exploration with the calculator: linear inequalities, graphing conic sections, and function transformations.
