This workshop is designed to help you to grow in your practice of Student-Centered Coaching. Join new and veteran coaches for two days of collaborative and differentiated professional learning!

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for new and veteran coaches, school leaders, and district administrators. We invite you to come on your own or with a team from your school or district. This workshop includes two differentiated professional learning paths, providing you with a targeted learning opportunity to match your needs.

Join Keep Indiana Learning and The Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning for two days of learning focused on enhancing your work with Student-Centered Coaching! Join new and veteran practitioners of Student-Centered Coaching as we strengthen our work with the core practices of Student-Centered Coaching.

Student-Centered Coaching is an evidence-based instructional coaching model grounded in collaborative partnerships between coaches and teachers. Rather than focusing on “fixing teachers”, this coaching model puts student learning at the center of coaching work. Join us to strengthen your coaching partnerships with Student-Centered Coaching.

Participants will walk away from Student-Centered Coaching: The Workshop with a deep understanding of the core principles of Student-Centered Coaching and tools to continue to grow in their Student-Centered Coaching practice. The Workshop provides two differentiated paths for participant learning – Level 1: Introduction and Level 2: Advanced Implementation. Both workshop paths will include engaging and collaborative activities as well as opportunities to reflect and plan for next steps after learning the workshop. Get ready for two days of impactful professional learning!

Overview Learn the guiding principles and core practices for Student-Centered Coaching. Student-Centered Coaching is an evidence-based instructional coaching model that shifts the focus from ‘fixing’ teachers to collaborating with them to design instruction that targets student outcomes. This workshop provides the opportunity for coaches to take their implementation of Student-Centered Coaching to the next level. Spend two days learning advanced strategies, collaborating with other coaches, and reflecting on artifacts from your own coaching work.
Audience This workshop is designed for instructional coaches, administrators, and district leaders who are new to Student-Centered Coaching. We encourage school and district teams to attend as a group. This workshop is designed for K-12 instructional coaches or leaders who have been implementing Student-Centered Coaching for at least one year or is currently working with our team.
How do I sign up? Register using the form below.

Participants for this workshop will be selected based on an application process. Selections will be based on the following criteria:

  • Has been implementing Student-Centered Coaching for at least one year or is currently working with our team.
  • Is currently a K-12 coach or leader.
  • Has attended professional development that was provided by Diane Sweeney Consulting. This includes: Student-Centered Coaching workshops, online classes, conferences, or onsite consulting led by our team.
  • Is willing to create and share a coaching portfolio. This includes: a Results-Based Coaching Tool, coaching logs, and other artifacts from your coaching work.
  • Maintains a learning stance when collaborating with others.

Julie Steele

Diane Sweeney Consulting, Senior Consultant and Author

Julie Steele is the co-author of Moves for Launching a New Year of Student-Centered Coaching (Corwin, 2023).  She joined Diane Sweeney Consulting in 2019 where her work focuses on partnering with district and school leaders and instructional coaches to provide professional learning and support related to the implementation of Student-Centered Coaching. In addition, Julie has a passion for continuous learning for educators focusing on best practices, responsive instruction, and equity. She enjoys presenting at educational conferences where her own learning expands as she connects with others’ knowledge, ideas, and experiences.

Julie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Missouri State University (7-12), Elementary Certification (1-6) from Avila University, and a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning from Baker University. She has been in public education since 1998 serving as a teacher, instruction specialist, and consultant.

Amber Birch-Trujillo

Diane Sweeney Consulting, Senior Consultant

Amber Birch-Trujillo began her educational journey as a dual-language teacher in New York City, an experience that cemented her passion for working with linguistically and culturally diverse learners. After working in both U.S. public and charter schools, Amber moved abroad and worked first as a teacher, then as a learning coach at the International School Nido de Aguilas.  

Amber has an M.A. in Bilingual and Bicultural Education from New York Teachers’ College, holds certification in Student-Centered Coaching from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Certificate of International School Leadership from the Principals’ Training Center. She is currently a consultant, focused primarily on working with international and independent schools. She is also an adjunct professor at Lake Forest College where she teaches courses in ESL and Bilingual Education.

Cancellations made more than 7 calendar days or more in advance of the event date, will receive a 75% refund. Cancellations made 7 or fewer days before the event date will not receive a refund, but the registration can be transferred to another participant.
