Brooke Lawson
As the Director of Mental Health for Carmel Clay Schools, Brooke oversees and coordinates mental health services, school social work, and counseling programs for the district. Collaborating closely with over 40 school counselors and social workers, she provides supervision and leadership in areas such as mental health support, student care, best practice models around school counseling and school social work, school safety, threat assessment, and suicide prevention. Brooke actively fosters stigma-free environments for mental health discussions within both the school and broader community. She plays a pivotal role in advancing the district's social and emotional learning initiatives, offering valuable support to educators and staff in areas such as trauma-informed practices and mental health literacy. Brooke is dedicated to forging strong connections between the school district and the community, ensuring robust systems of support for students and families while dismantling existing barriers. Brooke also leads the district’s mental health crisis response team and conducts statewide training on crisis intervention within educational settings. Prior to her tenure at Carmel Clay Schools, Brooke held a similar role at Hamilton Southeastern Schools for seven years and gained extensive experience at a prominent Community Mental Health Center for eight years. Brooke holds a Bachelor's Degree in Youth, Adult, and Family Services from Purdue University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Indiana University. Committed to community engagement, she serves on the boards of The Peyton Riekhof Foundation for Youth Hope, The SHIFT Initiative, and the Indiana Falcons. Brooke resides in Fishers with her husband and two children.
