Reading is FUNdamental

Science and other S.T.E.M. classes provide so many opportunities for cross-curricular instruction. One of the most powerful ways we can support our students is by intentionally bringing in literacy strategies and opportunities for students to become more confident, proficient readers. This starts with talking with students about where they are and setting goals. Spending time to invest students in their own journey as a reader also helps them to more intentionally engage in work that involves a lot of reading! Science can have a lot of challenging reading, and we have to be thinking about how we are supporting our students to overcome this challenge.
