Using Vocaroo To Record Student Voice
Written by: Julia Crone
Student creativity and voice & choice in the classroom is something I am passionate about. One of the freebies I have been loving to hit home on both is Vocaroo.
Vocaroo is a website that records audio only. It works seamlessly with Google Slides as a way to insert audio or can simply exist as a unique link. Please note that unique links will be deleted after a few months.
A Few Ways I Use Vocaroo as an Educator:
- Directions Slide: I will have visuals, written directions, and record my voice with a Vocaroo
- Sub Plans: When I am gone, I can have my sub hit play, and I will go over the directions and expectations. It is quicker and easier than me writing out lengthy directions for my sub to read.
- Exceeding Expectations: If students say they are done early, ask them to make a Vocaroo discussing what challenges they faced or what they are really proud of with their projects.
5 Easy Activities For Your Students:
- Podcast: Create a class Google slide and have students record their voices to reflect, add their point of view, or to inform their audience about a person or a particular cause.
- Historical Event/Figures: Have students write a script, then record themselves dramatizing how a historical event happened or about a key historical figure. They will have to use their researching skills!
- Math Explanation: Have students work on a math problem and then use Vocaroo to explain their process.
- Fluency Practice: Have students read a passage, record themselves, then listen to their recording.
- Feedback: Have students view each other’s projects and record warm and cool feedback of suggested changes to make!
