Number Talks. We hear about them, but what are they? Number talks are a way to engage students in intentional mental math computation practice. This series will include a dive into the progression of computation development, ideas for intentionally planning specific types of problems to match the needs of your students, and a look into the teacher moves that guide student learning during a Number Talk. Participants will also have collaborative work time to plan a series of Number Talks based on the current needs of their students.

Learning Intention(s):
  1. Participants will unpack the progression of computation standards.
  2. Participants will learn a replicable number talk routine.
  3. Participants will explore teaching moves to move student thinking forward during a number talk.
