New Counselor Cadre

Learning, Mentoring, & Networking for New School Counselors

Are you a NEW School Counselor who wants support during your 1st or 2nd year in the field? Do you want to be paired with an experienced counselor mentor, participate in professional learning, and network with other new counselors? If so, this cadre is for you!

Join this network of new Indiana School Counselors for a year-long virtual experience designed to meet the unique needs of those in their first or second year as counselors. The virtual series will kick-off in August, followed by monthly learning and/or networking opportunities. Content will be developed and delivered by Indiana school counselors and counselor leaders.

Participants will also be encouraged to have monthly connections with mentors.

Who should attend?

Cadre participant expectations:

Current role as a year 1 or 2 school counselor
Regular attendance and participation for the virtual sessions
Check-ins with mentor monthly and/or as needed

What to Expect

A year-long professional learning track specifically designed for New School Counselors

Monthly professional learning sessions held virtually, covering priority topics selected by new counselors
Virtual networking opportunities
Topics will meet the unique needs of new counselors and may include calendar planning, graduation requirements, GPA analysis, appropriately supporting IEP and 504 plans, academic advising tips, & student mental health needs.
School administrators may be be invited to participate when applicable
