Leading the Rebound
- Participants will engage in an in-depth examination of the strategies and must-dos outlined in the Leading the Rebound book and workbook.
- Participants will explore the connections and extensions between Leading the Rebound ideas and strategies to other John Hattie, Visible Learning research to expand and extend applications to the classroom/schools.
‘Leading the Rebound’ by Doug Fisher, Nancy Frey, John Hattie, and Dominique Smith has led the discussion around the ‘Next Normal’. In this series, the Keep Indiana Learning team will explore and dive deep into the ‘Leading the Rebound’ research one module at a time. We will explore ideas around educator and student agency along with recovering through the curriculum, instruction and assessment. We will also make connections to other Hattie resources and research to build a set of comprehensive strategies educators can utilize as they lead students to the ‘Next Normal’.
Part 1: Rebuilding Educator Agency

In Module 1, we will explore the emotional costs of the ongoing stress educators are experiencing as well as healthy ways to respond to stress and trauma. Rebuilding agency and efficacy of our educators through collaboration and feedback will be examined as we work to harvest wins and match efforts to success.

In this module, we will learn to prioritize our standards and identify appropriate learning expectations for students. We will learn to identify content and skills students need to master and those they have already mastered which will lead to a discussion around prioritizing standards to meet the needs of our learners.
