Exploring Grading Practices [Don’t take it personally!]
What does that A mean that you just put on Jonah’s report card? Did he master the content? Did he behave well? Did he bring in extra boxes of tissue? What about this new ‘no zero’ policy I’ve been hearing about? Should practice be part of the report card? These and many, many more are questions one might encounter when talking about grades and grading practices. With our short time together we’ll begin your exploration of grading, look at your current practices, and investigate alternatives living in the current debate. If grading is a sticky point for you, or if you feel like you have a system that works, please join us for this important and timely discussion. Three virtual meetings will be accompanied by short activities in Canvas designed to deepen your understanding. Attending all virtual classes and completing all Canvas activities will earn you up to 6 PGPs.
