Presenter(s): Kara Guiff
Date(s): October 8 - 9:00 am EDT
Cost: $50

Students struggling to retain important information? Attend this training to learn how to utilize 6 researched-based instructional strategies to increase the learning of all your students. We will explore retrieval practice, spaced practice, interleaving, elaboration, concrete examples, and dual coding. Did you know that anxiety, taking in too much information at once, and having a belief that you can’t learn negatively affect cognitive capacity?

In this training, we will also explore what cognitive capacity is and how to teach without overloading it. After this training, you will be equipped with strategies to help your struggling students be successful (and all the rest too)!

This is a hybrid virtual & in-person event at CIESC.

Learning Intention(s):
  1. Understand the core principles and how to implement retrieval practice, spaced practice, and interleaving
  2. Understand the core principles and how to implement elaboration, concrete examples, and dual coding
  3. Understand cognitive capacity and stratagies to avoid overloading it
